All 3 diving centres are within a few metres of the port where our boats are moored.
Diving Group Portofino operate in the Protected Marine Park of Portofino. The marine environment of Portofino Marine Park has been protected since 1999 and is one of the most bio-diverse and unique in the Mediterranean. As a result the marine life is in abundance unlike many other Mediterranean dive regions. The park is studied by biologists and visited by divers from all over the world.
Big marine life including large schools of barracuda, snapper, tuna, dentix, huge moray eels, conger eels, scorpion fish, octopus and lobsters and groupers are seen everyday. Moon fish appear in large numbers during July and August. Many species of nudi-branche flourish and the park is full of corals, violet gorgonian and yellow cluster anenomes.
Portofino Marine Park is also steeped in the scuba diving history of Europe and is home to the world famous, giant, submerged statue, Christ of the Abyss, created in memory of Dario Gonzatti, one of the pioneers of scuba diving who lost his life testing early scuba equipment in these waters.
We have a strong relationship with Mares, who have developed their equipment over many years in and around this area.
Santa Margherita and Rapallo are in the heart of the Italian Riviera in the Gulf of Tigullio, close to Genoa and only a couple of hours from Pisa, Milan, Torino and Nice. We are 5 hours drive from Zurich & Geneva and 7 hours drive from Munich
Diving Group Portofino has relationships with several hotels and apartments. We are happy to organise accommodation and we pass all discounts directly to our clients.
