The Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) was established in 1927 and then re-established in 1950. It is a Public Entity (PE) with its head office in Athens.

The Greek National Tourism Organisation is supervised by the Ministry of Tourism and is represented by Minister of Tourism Mrs Elena Kountoura. President of the GNTO is Spyridon  Alexiou whereas Secretary General ist Dimitrios Tryfonopoulos.

Our priority is to achieve the highest possible quality at all areas of the Greek tourism. The main focus of our work lies in promoting tourism in the following areas:
Coasts, Nautical routes - Sailing, Arts and Culture, Touring, Congress and Conference/ MICE, Greek Nature - Ecotourism, Spa and Wellness, Luxury, City Breaks.
Over the past few years innovative forms of tourism have been developed- revealing a country with a tourist product which extends far beyond the classical model of “sun and sea”.
One of the significant goals of the Greek tourism policy is the careful development of the tourist infrastructure with respect to ecological and cultural values. Greece- apart from being the birthplace of the European culture, philosophy and science is also a very popular destination for millions of visitors from around the world each year. No matter how demanding a visitor may be Greece is the ideal destination for the fulfilment of every traveller’s wish making one’s stay unforgettable. Greece’s spectacular diversity and the distinctive hospitality of its people make the country a unique tourist destination.
