FLAX FIBER NON WOVEN MATS

We offer non woven mats : 100% flax for thermoset infusion or mixed with PP (new or recycled PP) for thermoplastic compression.

The 100% flax non wovens are meant to be used in infusion while the comingled flax/PP are meant to be used in compression molding.

The obtained composite material is 100% recyclable (chopped >compound >injection molding>new parts)

Depending on the level of compression the material will adsorb more or less energy enabling to play with the damping, chock resistance, acoustic insulation properties.

Theses materials are both stiff and flexible making it very hard to break them.

The bellow pictures shows you the different stages from raw FLAX/PP mats  and result when pressed under heat.

Flax fiber properties:
Density of FLAX fibers are 1.45 making them nearly twice as light as glass fibers (2.6) lighter than carbon (1.8)
Damping properties (dampening ratio : FLAX: 1.47%, CARBON: 0.18%, GLASS: 0.15%)
Fatigue (better behavior in favor of FLAX compared to glass fibers)
