The Atlantic & Caribbean Odyssey

Our Atlantic & Caribbean Odyssey events are already established as firm family favourites and families benefit from a generous discount.

Try the classic November crossing (Atlantic Odyssey) from Tenerife, or wait for the trades and make a January crossing (Caribbean Odyssey).

Whatever your choice you can be sure of a warm Caribbean welcome on the other side. In 2016 the Caribbean destination will be Barbados as part of their 50th year independence celebrations.

To preserve the friendly spirit and convivial atmosphere of the rallies, we have decided to keep the maximum number at under 60 boats.

ISLANDS ODYSSEY

Cross the pond in easy stages. Make an early start in October, hop from island to island through the Canaries, the Cape Verdes and then take the shortest route across the Atlantic.
This step by step rally, starting in Lanzarote (Tenerife in 2017), calls at all the Canary Islands before sailing south to Sao Vicente, in the Cape Verdes, and from there picks up the shortest trade wind route to Barbados.

Jimmy Cornell has launched this new rally tailored for sailors who prefer to cross the Atlantic at a relaxed pace.

The Islands Odyssey includes the Canaries Odyssey in October. Yachts may join only the Canaries Odyssey section of the rally and pay a lower fee.

THE ODYSSEY CONCEPT

The Odyssey rallies are designed for sailors wishing to enjoy the safety and social aspects of a sailing event with the added extra of an environmental and scientific program.

All the Odysseys have the aim of returning to the original non-competitive and non-commercial spirit of Jimmy Cornell’s earlier rallies, with the emphasis on safety and the enjoyment of participating in a purely amateur event.
To help participants at every stage is an international team of experienced sailors with several circumnavigators among them.
From pre-start seminars to cultural visits and activities for children, the Odysseys are characterised by their unique atmosphere of camaraderie.
Reflecting the growing concern for the state of the oceans, participants will carry the message “The Ocean – Our Future” to all corners of the world, engaging in oceanographic and meteorological research programs under the auspices of UNESCO-IOC (Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO).
Participants pay a modest entry fee which includes a range of benefits such as free docking, read more about what is included
All these incentives are thanks to generous sponsors on both sides of the Atlantic.
