Surrounded by some of Europe’s best-known and prettiest beaches, Portimão Marina has become the preferred destination for mega-yachts of up to 50 metres. Located in the safest harbour in Portugal, in the wide estuary of the River Arade, it covers an area of 25 hectares, bounded by the fortresses of Santa Catarina and São João, and by magnificent support facilities. Portimão Marina’s deep water means that vessels can enter and leave during any tide; the entrance is wide and there are spacious areas for manoeuvring that are sheltered from the predominant winds. A venue for top international competitions, Portimão Marina is popular with professional water sports teams from around the world as an official training base. Still within the sphere of sport and of major social importance, Portimão Marina continues to support the Vela Solidária Project, which offers sailing experiences for the disabled, to attract increasing numbers of participants and train champions. Portimão Marina’s shipyard hub, located on the right bank of the River Arade, is sufficiently close to serve it without the inconveniences and pollution associated with this service. Our team of competent and attentive professionals invite you to discover the diversity and quality of our service in a unique ambience, and we will do everything we can to ensure your stay in Portimão is unforgettable. This year, having applied for the international “Gold Anchor Awards” classification, awarded by the prestigious “The Yacht Harbour Association / British Marine Federation”, Portimão Marina received the highest classification possible – 5 anchors!
You will easily recognise the Osiris tied up at the quay in Portimão, since it is one of the few traditional sailing ships still sailing the waters of the western Algarve. With its wooden deck and large white sails, this old-fashioned ship exudes elegance and evokes memories of the golden age of the Discoveries, when Portuguese ships ruled the waves and discovered new lands. Sail out of the River Arade into the Atlantic Ocean aboard the Osiris for an unforgettable boat trip to the city of the Discoveries – Lagos. Your ship will anchor in this famous bay where it will be welcomed by fishermen in their little boats, waiting to take you to visit the caves at Ponta da Piedade, the best-known sea caves in the Algarve. As well as visiting the caves, there will be a chance to go swimming in these crystal-clear waters before raising anchor and heading back to Portimão. Along the way, there is a good chance of dolphins appearing to say hello and swim alongside the ship for a bit. These boat trips in the Algarve last for three hours and are available from Monday to Saturday. There are two trips each day, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. There is also the option of booking a full-day trip lasting seven hours, which will give you a magical and unforgettable experience sailing the magnificent waters of the Atlantic, visiting the caves, dolphin watching and swimming.
