Contest Yachts of Holland is delighted to announce the Dusseldorf premiere of the newly launched 20-metre Contest 67CS performance bluewater sailing yacht and also the flybridge version of the highly acclaimed 16-metre motor cruising Contest 52MC, next to the prize-winning European Yacht of the Year, the Contest 42CS.
Showing the judel/vrolijk designed Contest 67CS and the uniquely styled Contest 52MC together in Hall 16 on Stand C54, Contest Yachts is exhibiting not just the variety within the range but the absolute top quality of these highly personalised, hand crafted, semi-custom built yachts.
The Contest 67CS on show is the second in the line and presents a powerful view of the future of high comfort, high performance bluewater cruising. With this new yacht the first collaboration between Contest Yachts and leading design studio judel/vrolijk, the Contest 67CS introduces a new, even sleeker dynamic to the Dutch builder’s trademark flush decks and low deckhouse with browed and swept wraparound glazing, while creating even greater interior space.
The powerful hull carries beam well aft into soft chines and flat underwater sections giving good form stability and off wind performance while retaining excellent sea keeping and, sailing flatter, sensibly keeping within the bounds of a single deep rudder for balance and precision. At the bow a narrow but buoyant entry helps her sail fast upwind to a remarkable 22° apparent. With automated hydraulic handling systems, the show boat carries carbon spars and North 3Di sails with Ronstan deck gear and winches by Lewmar.
Planning, fitting and styling of the variously arranged three, four and five cabin interior, designed in partnership with Wetzels Brown, is completely open to owner choice, which here is in holiday mood with simple yet luxuriously relaxed sand colours in the soft furnishings and leather panelling with highlights of nautical deep blue, and completed with cashmere throws, natural linen and Loro Piana scatter cushions. Soft elegance expressed without edge.
The Contest 52MC motor cruiser with sedan styling beneath a long extravagant flybridge cuts a dash even indoors! But it’s out on the water that this similarly comfortably and individually specified yacht truly shows her strengths. Conceived as a motor yacht to appeal to both dedicated power boaters and sailors converting to motor, the Contest 52MC is an extraordinarily capable sea boat, easily managing big seaways at speeds up to 28 knots with twin 550hp (410kW) Cummins engines, yet with her innovative semi-planing hull she is equally at home slowly cruising Europe’s inland waterways.
Excellent security aboard is ensured with high bulwarks surrounding wide side decks and good safe working areas in the bow and large aft cockpit where the high levels of engineering and composite skills are made evident in the sweet shaping of the moulded laminations and the provision of such stylish, strong and well placed line handling and ground tackle systems.
The versatile, customisable interior, again to Wetzels Brown design, revolves around a spacious, extensively glazed deck saloon with helm station and option of main or lower deck galley and two or three ensuite sleeping cabins. The flybridge above again offers optional layouts with, of course, a duplicate helm station for that wind in the hair experience and masterful view for docking as well as play. Thrusters are available bow and stern, as is a Seakeeper stabiliser.
The Contest 67CS, the 52MC and the 42CS can be viewed in Hall 16 Stand C54 (16C54).
