For the 50th anniversary of boot Düsseldorf a new regatta format celebrates its premiere at the fair: The boot Düsseldorf Challenge- the first official eSailing regatta series of boot, organized in cooperation with the game manufacturer Virtual Regattaand the International Sailing Association World Sailing.
How to compete in the boot Düsseldorf Challenge
The new boot Düsseldorf Challenge will be launched in the run-up to the fair on 17 December 2018 with three Pre-Challenges in the virtual boat classes J/70, Nacra17 and Offshore. Here you can register and join at any time .
During the 50th boot Düsseldorf, the qualification rounds will be sailed from January 18th to 26th , in which boot Düsseldorf visitors can also participate directly at eight PCs in the Tech Zone in Hall 15. The final races will take place on the second Sunday of boot, 27 January 2019 . Attractive prizes await the winners: The winners will be invited to a live sailing experience at the Kieler Woche 2019.
In addition, visitors to the fair will also be able to compete in the official eSailing World Championships of the World Sailing Association from Tuesday, 22 January.
Virtual Regatta
The trend eSports inspires sailors and attracts a steadily growing number of users. The „Virtual Regatta“ platform brings together players from all over the world and gives everyone the opportunity to test their sailing skills in virtual versions of the most famous regatta series such as the Vendee Globe, the Route du Rhum or the Kieler Woche.
Pre-Challenges - December 17, 2018 to January 13, 2019
In the run-up to boot Düsseldorf there will be Pre-Challenges in three boat classes to give the players the opportunity to train. The virtual regattas will be sailed in the Virtual Regatta Scenario Kiel.
#1 - J/70 class - Monday, 17.12. to Sunday, 23.12. #2 - Nacra17 class - Monday 31.12. to Sunday, 06.01. #3 - Offshore-class - Thursday 10.01. until Sunday, 13.01.
Qualification - 18 to 26 January 2019
At boot Düsseldorf, four qualification rounds will be sailed in the three classes over a time window of 36 hours each. The winners and runners-up of each round qualify for the final. If these two are already qualified, the third and fourth placed will move up.
#1 - Friday, 18.01. to Sunday, 20.01. #2 - Sunday, 20.01. to Tuesday, 22.01. #3 - Tuesday, 22.01. to Thursday, 24.01. #4 - Thursday. 24.01. to Saturday, 26.01.
Finale - January 27th 2019
The finale will be sailed on the second Sunday of boot Düsseldorf, January 27th 2019, on the big stage of the Sailing Center in hall 15 from 15.00 - 15.30 and accompanied by a commentator. Eight boats will start in the three boat classes in a best-of-three mode according to the Low Point System.
