Information on speakers, aims and lectures of the cruising workshop
The host of the boot Bluewater Seminar, Sönke Roever, is a well-travelled long-distance sailors with more than 80.000 nautical miles experience. From 2007 to 2010 he sailed round the world and visited more than 35 countries. Since his return, the Hamburg-based sailor gives fascinating talks and workshops on all aspects of his time at sea.
„Our aim is to provide practical and, most importantly, helpful information to support participants as best as possible in the preparation of their long-distance cruise. Regardless, whether it is a circumnavigation or a cruise around the Baltic Sea. Most of the information is helpful with any cruising preparations even on home waters and no matter if you are a skipper or crew," Sönke Roever explains.
Answers to all your important questions In addition to the expert lectures given by Sönke Roever, other highly experienced speakers will be present at the seminar, too. The popular meteorologist, weather router and coach Dr. Meeno Schrader talks about global weather systems and explains large-scale weather conditions. An experienced sailor with more than 50,000 nautical miles sailed, Meeno Schrader is your perfect expert to explain how to deal with phenomena such as El Nino, Squalls or Easterly Waves and he will also talk about the accuracy in prediction models.
The next speaker on the list is Leon Schulz. The Swede is a RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor. He has been sailing on his Hallberg-Rassy 46 for several years during the summer months, while successfully teaching on RYA Yachtmaster sailing courses in Malta in winter time. In his lecture, he explains what kind of competence and mindset a long-distance sailor requires and which factors are key to a successful voyage. The broad spectrum of issues looked at is rounded off by a lecture of Dr. Fabian Steffen, who is specialist for anesthesia and intensive care. He talks about the vital issue of "medicine on board".
