The elegant Spirit 74’ received fantastic reviews on its debut, with Yachting World stating, “She oozes superyacht quality…not just lovely, she hides some impressive engineering beneath her rich mahogany exterior.” Boat International added, “Sailing her is a dream, and testament to the knowledge and skills of Sean McMillan who couples classic yacht styling with carbon rigs and modern performance underwater profiles.”
The client’s brief was simple, to build the most beautiful yacht possible with no compromise on quality and performance. The result is “Galatea” a quintessentially perfect Spirit Yacht with stunning fan skylights and windows in the coach roof blending seamlessly with the classic lines of the deck and impeccable hull design. The huge cockpit, designed for the best of Mediterranean cruising, and sweeping aft deck offer plenty of space to relax.
The exquisitely finished saloon is bathed in natural light and the interior may be configured with three or four fully en-suite cabins all fitted out perfectly. Whilst the attention to detail and craftsmanship, synonymous with Spirit Yachts, coupled with an elegant club style lounge area makes Galatea’s interior perfect for entertaining.
Performance remains at the forefront of the 74’ design with a fantastic power to weight ratio and the potential for speeds of over 20 knots in the right conditions. The helm is superbly balanced, with motion through heavy seas quiet and delightfully gentle. Founder and director of Spirit Yachts, Sean McMillan, comments: “Galatea is undoubtedly the most beautiful boat we’ve built so far. But it’s her speed and performance that is really impressive.”
The first Spirit with a full hydraulic power package, as well as top of the range systems and high performance rig will make sure Galatea continues Spirit’s winning position on the regatta scene.
