The company was founded in 1977 under the name Ingenieurbüro Böning. In 1996 the legal form was changed to Ingenieurbüro Böning GmbH, and again in 2003 to Böning Automationstechnologie GmbH & Co.KG.

From the outset, activities have concentrated on the development and manufacture of devices and equipment for automation on board ships. Over the course of time the production and administrative premises have grown to an area encompassing more than 2,500 m². Employees now include 17 engineers occupied in hardware and software development and more than 60 specialists

engaged in production, sales, procurement and administration.

Each year the company supplies monitoring and control systems for more than 1,000 yachts and commercial vessels. The company is certified according to ISO 9001:2008.
