About us

Our history

In 1995, we, Britt Haselbach, Teaching profession Design and Sport, with focus on Sports Medicine, and Rainer Kespohl, qualified Social Education worker, founded Mira-ART®. Our intention was to create furniture that enhances the feeling of relaxation and well-being and that supports healthy sitting postures. Seating furniture of a different ART.

Every beginning is difficult. We invested a lot of time in the development of our products. Their intended use was clear, but we were occupied with other issues: What should the structure of the material be like? What shape and design should the furniture have? Questions and assignments that required a great deal of creativity and innovation. We did not wish to use static materials, such as cane, bamboo, metal or tightly-knitted fabric.

On a study trip through South India we discovered a very simple type of cane hanging furniture. A hanging chair that was fixed at one point in the ceiling, could freely swing in all directions and which swayed on it own axis. We got to know about a new sitting experience and were delighted with it.

From that time on, our aim was to find a material that could adapt naturally and individually to a user, but without restricting the freedom of movement. To prevent any kind of pressure load, the material had to be breathing, elastic and, at the same time, resilient.

After several years of development work, we are happy to present our perfected hanging chairs to you. From hanging chair to TRAUMSCHWINGER …

Our philosophy

"During the foundation of Mira Art we made it our goal to create a manufacturing unit that produced pollution-free, high-quality and ergonomic relaxation furniture. From the very beginning, our aim has been to act with social and environmental responsibility and to ensure sustainability. Our team has always been actively and uncompromisingly committed to achieving the above goals.

We produce the high-quality net material of our TRAUMSCHWINGER only from ecologically sustainable and certified cotton. We exclusively use FSC-certified wood for our products.

We're not just talking about mere social and environmental engagement – it is part of our everyday life.

Our material

Use of dreamlike materials

We understood right from the start that our carefully crafted hanging furniture would have to be made of carefully selected materials. In fact, we wanted to connect to natural cycles through a close contact with pure and natural materials. The result is there for everyone to see. With its combination of natural cotton and red cedar, it is a quality product of simple and natural elegance; the result of our search for the best possible product for well-being and relaxation.

Our wooden components are exclusively made of high-quality wood from eco-friendly, sustainable forestation.

Assisted by a spinning mill, we have, in the course of time, developed a cotton thread that has a very soft surface haptically and that imparts a feeling of physical well-being. This is now handcrafted with traditional twisting techniques into high-quality cord. The distinctive elasticity of the cotton thread and the knot-free tying of the net ensure a flexibility that allows the material to adapt to the body, naturally and without pressure.

The special thread of the net ensures that the TRAUMSCHWINGER remains in good shape even after repeated use, or use by heavy individuals.

The cotton comes from ecologically sustainable or biological cultivation, is pollution-free and washable - thereby making it very suitable for allergy-prone individuals. A special cotton thread, which gives our Traumschwingers their unique elasticity and resilience, is produced according to our instructions from this high-quality raw material.
