HARBECK company

The present Harbeck company was founded in 1942 in form of a waggon maker which was known in each village at this time. The founder was Alfons Harbeck senior.

At this time the first trailers were build, however, rather for the agricultural needs.

Due to the early death of Alfons Harbeck senior, the two oldest sons - Alfons Harbeck junior and Hermann Harbeck - were forced to continue the business of their father.

The sales increased and at the beginning of the 60s the first boat trailers were produced already. At the beginning this production was only destined for the own needs. Hermann Harbeck was an active regatta sailor at this time and because of the closeness to the water (Waging's lake) this step was comprehensible. It didn't stick with those first boat trailers for long. Pretty soon one became aware of the boat trailers by the active regatta activity of Hermann Harbeck and the first serial production could be launched.

1979 Alfons Harbeck was killed in an accident, so that Hermann Harbeck took over the company alone.

Until today Hermann Harbeck is the sole owner of the Harbeck Fahrzeugbau GmbH company in Waging am See.

Until the year 1980, 10,000 trailers had already been delivered, 1986 the 20,000th trailer was built and until the year 2006 80,000 trailers had already been built and delivered.

In 1988 the competitor Sprint from Munich, in 1990 the company Steinbacher in Lohr / Main and in 2005 the company Stöger in Munich were taken over in the consolidated companies of Harbeck.

The consolidated companies of Harbeck are occupying approx. 80 employees at the moment. The annual output amounts to 4,000 trailers at the moment whereas the focus lies at boat trailers. But utility trailers and special vehicles are also in the scope of delivery.

With the production of boat trailers the Harbeck company has been the biggest manufacturer in germany for many years.

The lineup of boat trailers ranges from motorboat trailers with the patented SLIPMATIC® to boat trailers with integrated slip waggon for yawls, or from special trailers for motorbikes to regatta trailers for all olympic boat categories.

At all sailing events and yacht harbours you'll read the slogan "Ich bin ein Anhänger von Harbeck" ("I'm a Harbeck trailer")

Various national teams, European champions and world champions as well as special forces of the German Federal Armed Forces and the GSG 9 have been relying on the "trailers of harbeck" for many years.

In 1995 it was decided to replace the "old" factory, which had become to small because of the continuing growth, by a new and bigger factory.

This new factory was put into service at the end of 1996 soon after a very short construction time. In a new commercial area at Waging's doorstep on the green grassland stands the very modern new factory - one of the biggest factories for boat trailers in Europe.
