Our Shipyard!

The Sirius-Werft, established since over 30 years at the market, has engaged today, in the heart of the schleswig-holsteinischen Ploen, 28 motivated boat builders, carpenters and technicians, who are manufacturing per year 8 - 10 Sirius deck salon yachts in the most individual-orientated small series. Because of this existence at the market for many years, the outstanding developmentconcepts of firm founder Peter Schmidt and the requirement to fulfill always highest quality requirements, made the small family business become a firm quality term of the industry, despite the small number of 570 ships in 34 years. The concept of a pure sailing yacht (original rig, hull and unter water body of the well-known fast sailing yacht Sirius 31), appeared first at the market 14 years ago, was consistently developed further on until today, was picked up with the Sirius 38 DS from our designer George Nissen and secures a lead in development and design for the enterprise until today in the conception of matureed, without restricting fun while sailing a deck salon yacht. The handicraft crew of the Sirius wharft, which is led since 4 years now by the boat building master Tosten Schmidt, son of the firm founder, is pleased about the increasing interest of customers in the active, individually codesigning, which lets each individual Sirius yacht become a facet-rich andunmistakable finger mark of the owners.Surely, the unusually strong customer connection, the unparalleled motivation and the personal commitment of the colleagues contributes to this success: - 6 out of 11 built Sirius 38 went to owners, who possessed a 31 or 32 before - through the intensive discussions and the usually very numerous visits during the 5-7 month taking building phases, the customer directly takes the chance to influence the individual design, equipment and development variants. - The motivation of the Sirius team, a majority of the ideas and experiences, which are in the boats, and the fun, which is noticeable while working, results of the close contact, many good hints and, rather after a quite short time, the mostly friendly relationship, which adjusts itself during the building phase between the owners and the crew. The hereby developed friendships led recently to the fact, that three owners of new Sirius 38 DS yachts invited our entire team of 25 colleagues to a daily trip on their yachts, and after that decided, that this has to be repeated now every year. Despite the small numbers of items, the Sirius wharft happens to get together 30 ships to start at the lately invented Sirius-Cup. Among them: - all 12 of the 32 which are resident in the Baltic Sea-owners, who traveled particularly from Denmark, Sweden 165 sm from the Baltic and the North Sea (so a Sirius 26 made the long way from the Elbe by the northeast ship canal for Eckernfoerdeand Heiligenhafen already for the 2nd time to participate in the Sirius Cup). These events with up to 170 participants are an idea of, planned, organized and executed on a voluntary basis by our collegues from pure enthusiasm, only for the joy of the contact with the owners and the possibility to sail with them, in complete self-direction (3-days event including breakfast, fish and salatbuffet, beverage bar, tombola and race committee). With 4 trainees per class each year new motivation and constructional ideas arise. Mostly the first places in the associating examinations are held by Sirius trainees. This combination of continuity, constant quality improvement, customer connection, coworker motivation and personal employment stands behind the success of one of the last enterprises in Germany, who produce high-quality handicraft yachts in small series, relating to yachts in this segment.

The generation mixture concentrates 30 years experience in boat-building and sailing, young and dedicated craftsmen and motivated trainees in one team, sharing not only work, but also numerous collective leisure activities. The friendly and well-balanced working atmosphere generates new ideas, innovative techniques and a prolific cooperation within the team as well as with our customers.
