Slip knot

The slip knot connects a shakle or snap ring with a rope. Though it is not sufficient for all purposes, the slip knot can be used when time is short.

Start with an overhandknot.

 

 

The size of the loop can be changed by changing the bight's length.

 

 

The running end can be moved freely.
