Bowline, "classic"

The "classic" bowline needs more practicing, but contains the advantage, that it can be knoted blindly e.g. in the night.


A free loop:


The size of the loop is defined by the position of the running end.


 
 


Tie an overhand knot: The running end is on the right and you turn a loop,


 
 


with the standing end.

 
 


The running part goes underneath the standing part,

 
 


and back to the loop.

 
 


Tighten the knot softly.
