Nomen Cleat - fail-safe design

The folding mooring cleat from Nomen provides the benefits of flush and rigid cleats to aesthetic perfection. Loose lines cannot get caught during manoeuvring. The danger of injury at sea is reduced. The cleat is easy to fit to the deck. The patented folding mechanism with the simple elastic ball is fail-safe and lends a charm all of its own.

Design & functioning
In 1998, the Nomen cleat won the Federal Product Design Award, the highest German design prize. The Federal Ministry of Economics awards this prize for outstanding German industial products every two years. The gentle locking of the cleat arms in the two end positions is produced by an elastic ball which is located between the two arms. It deforms to respond to tension.

About Nomen
Nomen Products was founded in 2002 in order to produce particularly designs of Axel Hoppenhaus and to bring them to the market. We started with the much awarded Nomen cleat. Nomen Products is the production department of Nomen Design, the Design Studio of Axel Hoppenhaus, founded 1995 in Hamburg Germany.
