PWA Worldtour - Fuerteventura Grand Slam

From July 23 to August 2, Sotavento’s beautiful beaches played centre stage to the world’s fastest slalom racers and the most tricked up freestyle competitors. The world famous Rene Egli windsurfing centre hosted the event on the south-eastern shores of the island of Fuerteventura. Ideally situated, this destination allowed the competitors direct access to the awesome conditions, whilst also providing every opportunity for the spectators to enjoy the action from the comfort of their sun loungers.

Albeau and Estredo triumphed
The final day of slalom competition left the 2009 world champion, Antoine Albeau (JP, NeilPryde) fighting for the crown with the 2009 world rankings runner up, Finian Maynard (RRD, Gaastra). In the end Albeau was able to claim his fifth consecutive crown in the 25th Anniversary Fuerteventura World Cup. On the final day of freestyle competition three times world champion, Jose ‘Gollito’ Estredo took the second double elimination to steal the show in Fuerteventura, and sealed the deal for his fourth PWA world title with an event to spare.
