Mercury Racing 600HP (447kW) sterndrive

The 8.2-litre V8 HP600 SCi

Mercury Racing is introducing an all-new supercharged 600HP (447kW) sterndrive, the 8.2-litre V8 HP600 SCi. Key features include active torque management, sequential port fuel injection, individual coil ignition, a roller camshaft and microprocessor control. It will replace the HP575 SCi engine package.

Variable boost
The Lysholm 3.3-litre supercharger on the HP600 SCi has variable boost. A boost bypass control valve, activated electronically by the Mercury-exclusive PCM 03 processor, continuously adjusts the boost needed for consistent horsepower, irrespective of running conditions, eliminating any need for re-propping the boat. There is active torque management at all engine speeds.

Individual cylinder control
The PCM 03 computer also enables individual cylinder control. This ability to optimise fuel, spark timing and knock control for each cylinder independently enhances running quality, performance, fuel economy and durability. A custom-designed intake manifold is at the heart of Mercury Racing's induction system. It houses an internally sealed intercooler made of corrosion-resistant copper-nickel alloy. The intake features port fuel injection and a fuel crossover passage which eliminates tee fittings by routing fuel to both port and starboard fuel rails. Higher fuel pressure demands are met with a new electric pump. The engine is also equipped with fuel cooling and a mechanical pump to combat vapour lock.

Monitoring boat and engine functions
The HP600 SCi is equipped with Mercury's digital SmartCraft controller area network system, proactively monitoring boat and engine functions and providing the data at the helm. Engine Guardian, driven by the PCM 03, also monitors engine functions and pre-warns of possible problems that could lead to engine damage. Bravo One XR drive is the standard configuration, but the HP600 SCi can be coupled to a Bravo One XR SportMaster or Dry-Sump Six drive.
