Constrictor knot

The best and most secure of all binder knots. Provided that it is tied on a convex surface it cannot slip and grips like a boa-constrictor, hence its name given it by Ashley who discovered it. It is often very difficult and sometimes impossible to untie it.

Make a round turn with the running part around the standing part.

The running part surrounds the object and goes over the standing part.

The running part is put under the crossing and both parts are tied firmly.

Caution: once tied the constrictor knot is nearly impossible to untie!

The knot can also connect to crossing objects: first the line is put over and then under the crossing.

The standing part goes to the top and the bitter end is put underneath the object,

further on over the standing part again, and then under the crossing line. Tie the knot in the end.

A steady connection for tents, crossbars, etc.
