121st Travemuende Week from 23 July to 1 August 2010

Each year, the Travemuende Week attracts roughly 3,000 sailing enthusiasts in 800 boats to the start of the regatta field in the Bay of Luebeck. The Baltic sporting event is complemented by a mainland festival, which attracts hundreds of thousands of people to Travemuende. Social highlights on shore include two spectacular fireworks and beach illuminations as well as top-notch music performances on the festival mile along the Trave river.

Sailing Arena Trave
The Luebecker Yacht-Club offers an outstanding sailing venue for media and spectators - the Sailing Arena Trave - directly on the mouth of the river Trave. After official racing in the ten race areas in Luebeck bay during the day, the LYC team will present racing periods of 45 to 60 minutes in a special format to high performance classes like Catamarans or Skiffs starting about 1700 hours daily. Races of about 10 to15 minutes - easy to understand for spectators and with a great achievement to bring spectacalous sailing maneuvers to all kinds of media.

World, European and National Championship
The 121st edition of the Travemuende Week will provide a colourful bouquet of championship races. About 150 crews are expected to attend the Hobie Multi Europeans including the European Championship of the world’s most popular catamaran Class, the Hobie 16. The formerly Olympic Tornado class will even hold their World Champion on Luebeck Bay, and the Formula-18 catamarans will determine their National Champion.

Action-packed racing week
The eight racing areas on Luebeck Bay will see as many as 40 winners in all the different classes, ranging from traditional dinghies like the Korsar, Pirate and 470s to the exciting skiffs like the 18-footers and Int.14 right up to the classic Folke boats. Additionally, there will be the big boats competitions during the first weekend of the Travemuende Week on up-and-down courses to determine their overall winner in the Baltic Cup Standings with a medium-distance race to Boltenhagen and back.
