America's Cup 2010
America's Cup 2010 - the venue

After having been chosen to be the host city of the 32nd America's Cup in 2007, the first AC ever to be held in Europe, in 2010 Valencia welcomed the 33rd edition of the oldest sports trophy in the world. Located on Spain’s Mediterranean coastline, Valencia's strengths include excellent sailing conditions, an extensive base created exclusively for the event, its great marine tradition and the enormous organisational capacity of such a dynamic city.
Winning the bid
The America's Cup in Europe has opened up countless new opportunities to the sailing world's pinnacle event. Not least of which was a bid process to identify the host city for the 32nd America's Cup. Valencia, Spain's third largest city, won that bid for several reasons, among them the commitment to build sufficient infrastructure to host the America's Cup at a level befitting one of the world's premiere events. It is the capital of the Valencia Region and one of Europe’s fastest growing cities.
A city created for the AC
A historical, dynamic, modern and enterprising city where the America’s Cup family, the public and fans enjoyed the benefits of the special village created specifically for them. Already with experience of working with the Port America’s Cup development for the past edition, the Consorcio Valencia 2007 has been delegated the responsibility for organising the media and event activities for the 33rd America’s Cup by The Société Nautique du Genève (SNG), trustee of the America’s Cup.

Marina Real Juan Carlos
Part of Valencia's newly-built infrastructure is the Marina Real Juan Carlos- with its brand new 700-berth marina right at the heart of the Cup action and literally minutes from the race course area - "the stadium". The Marina Real Juan Carlosis is nestled against la Malvarossa with its promenade, restaurants, clubs and bars - it is 'The Beach' to be at in the city.
Sunshine all year long
Home of the Paella and the largest orange groves in Europe, Valencia has lots to offer. For example, the nearby impressive Cuidad de las Artes y las Sciencias set into the old Rio Turia riverbed, a zone now converted into a green leisure area that meanders around the old historic city centre. Just over the horizon to the East of the Marina is the legendary island of Ibiza - Barcelona and Alicante are not much further. With more than 300 days of sun each year Valencia all but guarantees a bright experience for its visitors.
