Retros and Small Trawlers at boot 2010 - a selection

Interior of AP42' Open
Classic design and a retro look combined with the latest technology are enjoying increasing popularity. Trawlers, with their steeply bilged bows, are considered particularly seaworthy. Small trawlers are now latching onto their success.
In the style of the gentlemen's runner from the 20s in the previous century comes the Frauscher 717 GT from Austria. The extraordinary hull design is right up-to-date, while the classic mid-range motor is reminiscent of the golden twenties.

Arne Schmidt Yachts is introducing as a worldwide new entry the long, classically designed Admirals Tender Sport (8.90 m). Spray rails in the hull are to keep splash water away from the sides; the top speed is around 30 knots.

The AP42‘ Open (12.50 m) by Chesa Yachts from Italy is displayed as a newcomer to Germany. The single-level open-plan main deck of the weekender, with a spacious cabin in the bow, offers a step-free experience from the wide hydraulically-operated double doors to the cockpit right through to the bathing platform. Two 480-horsepower diesel motors may reach up to 35 knots.

De Boarnstream from the Netherlands is displaying the Boarncruiser 50‘ Retro Line (14.99 m) for the first time in Düsseldorf. The interior appears elegant and is no longer reminiscent of the steel constructions of the 70s.

Swift Trawler 34
Ranger Tugs is bringing the small trawler R-29 (8.90 m) from the west coast of the USA to Düsseldorf for the first time. Built in the style of a working boat, it has already proven itself on inter-coastal voyages along the island-protected coast from the north-west US state Washington up to the north of Alaska.

Bénéteau (France) is introducing the long Swift Trawler 34 Sedan (11.14 m), for the first time without an outside helm stand on the fly bridge. The latter serves as a space for a dinghy, bicycles, surf boards and other bulky objects, or as a king-size sun area. The hull and exterior design reflect that of its already established big sisters ST 52 and ST 42 Pate. A 425 horsepower Cummins-Diesel motor reaches a maximum speed of 21 knots.
